My old school vision just got clearer! I use them for soldering and repairing some of those tiny parts in my boombox. A hot fragment of solder recently flicked near my unprotected eyes and that was enough to convince me to quit “naked eyeballing” while soldering.

You still need a steady hand! I find if you have really good lighting you can see enough without having to train your hand to eye coordination to compensate for parallax error due to magnification.
