Maybe it would be more economic/ecologic if a local boomer was used for the photos?
If it was for taking my GF-777 to the Brandenburger Tor and take a picture I'm in

What a cool idea Shane!!!

How about while you're at it have a 90min. tape in it and record just 1 song or a comercial or something short off the radio. Finally, put a local sticker on it or sign it with a permanent marker and then send it to the next country...
Now, what boombox?
:hmmm: If it's a GF-777 can I keep it pleeeeeease???

I was expecting a picture of a boombox with the handle made from heavy chain, welded together. :-O

Good idea though, if you can solve the logistics of shipping a fragile plastic box across the globe, over and over.

Awesome idea Shane!!

My thoughts: we choose a radio lots of us have (a poll would find out what's the most common box on here, probably an M70), then someone starts off the
chain by sending a really nice reel tape that everyone then makes a VIDEO of playing the last track recorded on it in their town/city somewhere before recording their own song on the tape and the sending it on.

This would result in an awesome video compilation we could put up on youtube.

All this could be run in a similar way to the travelling tape we did a while back.

Just my ideas anyway!

Rock On.

I'm SO IN on this!

I have this wooden carved elephant I took on vacation and pretended it was the gnome. I took photos of him doing all sorts of things including drinking beer at the karaoke bar!!! HA HA! We could even pass it to the next boomboxery member via road trip, as I would with James, because he's out of Vancouver BC and I'm an hours drive South of Seattle. Alison and I would get all sorts of footage and would have a TOTAL BLAST! HA HA!!!

YES!
LET'S DO THIS THING!!!

Can we do a M90 road trip style? PLEASE! How bout a DISCO-LITE!!!!

:w00t:  :w00t:  :w00t:

Wonder who would sacrifice an M90 or a Disco Lite for that?

If you're going to send a boomer all over the world, maybe pick one that fits into a decent flight-case, so it's got half a chance of making it more than two trips?
The fragility of the average DiscoLite wouldn't make it a good candidiate. Something with a simple, manual transport & that's built like a brick-privvy would be good...

Possible candidate would be the Crown 850....just an idea. I think it is pretty common.
An M70 would work too but I would not recommend actually sending it around.
Gluecifer's idea sounds like the most possible one.
So in case nobody is up to start this, I am going to work on a first video segment  .
I am kinda familiar with vidoe editing and such  .

KICK ASS IDEA!

I think it should be an M90 and you should send it to me first! :-P

"ummmm...what M90? :angelic: "

But seriously, a midsized box would be cool, semi affordable and if we each sent it on to a member who lives semi close, then your not eating the Japan, to German, to Australia Zig Zag. If it tours one country at a time only one SUCKER eats the big postage! :-D (probably me! :-/ )

It would be cool to put a sticker on it from every place it goes! I live near Bakersfield, so I will put a sticker of a toilet on it!

Count me in!

So what radio....maybe you should have a poll of brands so people can vote!

I can donate the radio and the first stickers/photo of it at our capitol building in Madison, WI. - only rule is that I get it back!

I had this thought about the "wooden carved elephant " Holly suggested.

We would all take great pictures of this elephant.. near great and glorious tourist locations, and perhaps even the seven wonders of the world. Then lasonic 920 would get a hold of it. A picture would come back with the elephant next to his truck, with a new clockRadio balanced on top of its head.

If you shipped a medium sized box to a member in close proximity via USPS Priority mail prices may not be too bad. USPS charges it's lowest rates in zone. It's probably more feasible (as someone had previously mentioned) to send an audio cassette. Have each receiving member record a song from the boomer of their choosing then have the tape sent to the Germany meet for the unveiling! :-)

I just thought of one idea that would solve the shipping problem. And the need for a boombox. Its called...promotions

Every company has $ available for advertising and promotions.

So...

We could approach TDK with a proposal to have boomboxery members photograph their new 3-speaker boombox at famous places throughout the world. Their boombox would also be promoted on the boomboxery website, the most famous site in the world for boombox collectors, and also at the German meet, and other boomboxery events.

All we would ask for is one 3 - speaker boombox, donated to boomboxery (ie to Fatdog) and a Fed-ex account to charge for shipping the boombox to qualified members across the globe. :breakdance:

FRICKIN' A, RESTO!!! BINGO!!! EUREKA!!! I think that's IT!!! Excellent idea bro...
For one of those new TDK boomboxes I'd seriously go to Angel Falls and let my nuts get eaten by a Piraña! Hehe, NOT!

What we gotta do is get someone (Glue) that has good (Glue) writing skills (Glue) and try and get them (Glue) to write TDK with the idea... how about it Fatdog?
I'm so IN for that idea... (except for the "nuts" part though)
