I have a strange problem with my Panasoniy RX-DT9.
When the device stands normal horizontal, then the CD starts to spin but does not play. If I skip some songs forward, then sometimes the music starts, but often is looping or even jumping back.
But if I tilt the device a little bit, then the CD runs from the beginning to end without any problems.

Here is a short video:

Any idea, what could be the root cause? A wear out in spindle motor bearing?

You may need to open and clean the axis along which the laser lens is moving, or there may be another mechanical problem...

I already cleaned the worm shaft and the wheel on which the laser is sliding and added new grease. It made no difference. But this would also not explain, why tilting helps. The wheel is on 90degree angle to the tilt direction.

You need new pickup its the response time required to move the lazer and error correction. I'm sure even when tilted it will eventual drop out. Try playing a whole disc all the way to the end try not to fall asleep waiting.
