Just wanted to post a few pictures of the new strap clip that caution made. I had it sent to shapeways and they printed it out using the professional Gray plastic....it works beautifully!

Wonderful job Eric! This thing is flawless, will work for many years and will never come out of the clip. That gray plastic is very tough and is able to latch in with great force. It holds tighter than the originals!

We have a winner!

Thanks guys! That did turn out nice. Very happy to see it fits, and that the material can act as a clip (battery covers, I'm lookin' at you).

You're right, that material is pretty tough, it should last a long time, but hey, if does break down the road - just print a new one
By then the material and accuracy should be even better, this stuff changes all the time!

And I forgot to mention one other thing about this that makes it that much more special (for those who are not aware). This single 3D part is designed to where it can be used on either side of the boombox handle. So it wouldn't matter which side were to break, it's the same part. You simply slide the metal bracket for the correct side into the plastic clip for the side of the box you need the clip on.

Eric was right in a previous post where he mentioned that this part would be a good candidate for 3D printing. This was the most perfect use of 3D technology IMO. It's the perfect part for 3D :-)
