So a couple of weeks ago i returned home from a 2 month trip
to Canada and the US and have a few stories i will be sharing.
But for now here is a short list of pre answered questions for
everyone.....
Q Was the trip awesome ?
A No.... it was FREEEKIN awesome
Q Did i meet any members while there ?
A Yes, but this was by chance only ( more on this in another thread yet to come)
Q In relation to recent questions on this forum...can you take a boombox on a plane as
carry on luggage ?
A YES you can take a boombox as carry on luggage on the plane. In fact you can take 2,
yes 2, if this is your only carry on luggage you have
Note.. If you dont pack the boombox for the flight and instead choose to carry the boombox
by the handle loaded with batteries and playing, be prepared to look very cool and get lots of
positive comments and questions and even find that the security guys at the airline will all
take it in turn to pose with your 'old school' ghettoblaster and ask all kinds of questions.
Q Will they xray your boombox at the airport ?
A Of course, just like everything else. And the young guy operating the xray will say " you know
they have Ipods now !" HAHAHAHA... he was funny !
Q If you pack your other boombox entirely in bubble wrap then seal it with so much duct tape
it would literaly float before letting water in, just to prevent it getting even slightly marked, will the
airport security xray the package and then cut it open after all your trouble to protect it just so they
can swipe it for drugs ?
A Sadly, yes. I asked them if i could cut it open as i knew i wouldnt damage it but they would not
allow me to. But after explaining how important the situation was to me they allowed me to kind
of over see and guide the situation. I was very grateful for that. They had a job to do and i
understood that and they where all very kind about it.
There seriously must have been 12 people from security hanging around to see what the whole
commotion was about in the end
Anyway the trip was fantastic !
There should be no regrets on a trip like that but there are a few things im
disappointed about, like not getting to meet other members while
i was there.
I have been talking about going to the States and driving route 66 with my dad
for 20 years and i just realised oneday that time was really going by fast so i sold
an investment property and put together a trip for myself, dad and brother and it
was all very spur of the moment, last minute kind of stuff. But now that i have finaly
flown to the US i want to do it some more in the future and would love to fly over for a
member meet one year
Another regret was not asking Jack Black for a photo opp when i realised i was standing
right next to him in a shop at the airport in Canada
Here is a picture i took while we where driving from the west coast to the east...
to Canada and the US and have a few stories i will be sharing.
