With a 1/8" to RCA patch cord, plug into laptop's headphone or audio out jack, plug into boombox, turn on boombox.

Yes it can be done. It's how I compare radios loudness and clarity. I plug in my iPods to two radios and let them battle it out. Waiting for my GF-767 and GF-777 to come home and battle them against my Conion C-100f to see who wins. I use the phono with the 1/8th plug on the other end. For the laptop the same. Neigbors love to hate me cause I'm continously doing it with the HK-9000 vs. Conion C-100f. I use the laptop with it's built in eq and my iPod on the HK. (for those wondering: Conion is louder, but HK is Bass happy after woofer swap).

The cord superduper is describing is all you need. See image below.

Also a couple of alternatives I sometimes use. I have a Blackberry Music Gateway (basically, a bluetooth audio receiver that connects to a boombox) that lets me beam music wirelessly from my blackberry or laptop, which also has bluetooth. Another alternative is an FM stereo transmitter - it has a mini-headphone end that plugs into an ipod or laptop, and it transmits low power FM that you receive on your boombox.

Sounds like you already have what you need, and it should work.

Ditto on what they all said - I do it all the time and I recorded my tracks on the Team Maxell challenge:

I sold that one - it was only a 777Z

The one I kept was the 777H - the volume output is louder and was in better condition than the Z
