Heres my dilema, i had this passed down to me, and when i tried it, the tape deck didnt work. I ended up opening it up and found 2 pieces on the bottom of the box. The pieces werent broken, but i could send it anywhere in the US if someone can give me a flat rate price to fix it.

Hey Scott, Welcome...glad you made it....

I know there are quite a few members here with that radio....

If the door is staying open then that's what they are for...

I would say look towards the top of the door on either side and also look for the linkage from the "Eject" button and how it routes over to free the door. There maybe a "C" clip missing that holds it all in place. The smaller piece looks like it goes on a round shaft.

Hopefully we'll get some dudes to chime in and help figure this out....

NICE RADIO BTW!

Those definitely appear to be cassette door components. Looks like someone took it apart and left those out. Generally a phillips screwdrivers and some patience is all you need to fix that. There are several members here with that boombox. I am sure someone has pics of the inside and what it looks like when put together...or if you want we are planning a boombox meet in Antioch in July and you could bring it down and we would show you how to take it apart and fix it for you...and it would give you a chance to see a ton of boomboxes and meet some guys from the site.
