Can any boomboxes play music backwards?

Back in the 80s I remember seeing a mono cassate portable that could play music backwards. We used to try out different rock songs to see what they were saying backwards. (backmasking).

Anyone know of any full featured boomboxes that have this feature?

i dont know but one other way to do it is risky to your cassette.. kinda hard to explain..the reel thats full of tape (supply reel of the cassette) must be turned upside down,causing the tape to twist before the deck reads it backwards. you face the cassette on side A but the cassette will play side B backwards..and vice versa..

i remember having a 4 track cassette recorder 2 tracks would play correctly but the other 2 would not it would play backwards because all 4 tracks were being recorded at the same time at the same dirrection,, if you tried to play it on a boombox you would notice that 2 would play correct but flipping the tape around you could not understand what was being played.. but up to now the only way i have seen that is that way that i mentioned before, but not sure if it could be done to a boombox unless it was rigged somehow

reversing the + and - wires on the cassette motor would do it.

Well, the 'satanic messages' thing is a bit much, but..some artists were known to backmask lyrics on purpose, so it is interesting to try to find it.

The best way to find it is to have a tape player with reverse and adjustable speed. Anyone have a big ben or GF-9696 I can borrow to see if the crossing wires trick will work?

Everything will turn out fine, really.
