For some strange reason this bbx has caught my fancy lately. :w00t:

If I manage to find a nice one, what can I expect from this box? Great bass? Crisp highs? Loud? Good build quality?

Is it really 20 watts per channel? :hmmm:

I did a brief search, but couldn't find a dedicated topic to the Rising. Don't blast me if this is a repeat question. :dunce: :dunce:

This is a very good box, it's not going to slay the kings of the boombox world but it will give good solid bass with smooth sound and good highs. Build quality is good though not top notch but it really doesn't disappoint. The 20/20 isn't for wattage it's the size of the woofers, 20cm each. Most who have this box are pleased with it plus you can do a cool LED mod for the dial light, some members have done this and it's really cool. If you can find a nice one under $200 to $250 it's worth it but I wouldn't go nuts and pay $400 or $500 for it. When buying one check the front feet, they often broken since this is probably the weak point of this box.

Yes on all counts!
The Rising is a bonafide ghettoblaster, nice warm sound, great bass and clear highs, this sucka cranks!
I dont know about the 20wpc. But if your talking about the 20/20 thats on the box thats 20cm as in woofer diameter.
grab one if you can they are fairly rare on ebay. if they pop up they fall in the range of $150-300.
Good Luck!

The Rising SRC-2015 is a fantastic box. To my ears the sound is fairly close to the JVC RC-M70. However, the M70 has a much "warmer" sound. As Don stated, the build quality isn't going to compare with a JVC or Sharp, but it definitely has the classic look about it. I'm not sure if I was the first to do the LED mod, but kittmaster, hemiguy2006, and THAFUZZ all have LEDs in the Rising. It's a simple modification and there's no right or wrong way to do it.

They are super easy to work on also!!

The true telling of this box is the fact that once a collector gets one they usually always like to have it or one of it's twins in their collection. There aren't all that many boxes that get this much loyalty from it's owners.

The Rising is great! You will love it! I did the LED mod too and it REALLY makes the box stand out take a look.

The build quality of a 20/20 is closer to an M70 than to one of the black box types.Much of the difference (but not all) could be attributed to the fact the 20/20 is a much simpler design than the JVC.The important thing is that it's a tight build. In fact when I got mine I was surprised with its quality for a non major branded boombox. It's very unlikely you will have to put up with rattles or case noise due to age and/or loose screws as with the lower quality "glitzy" boxes you may find. The rotary volume dial makes tiny clicking sounds to indicate volume positions. The other pots have stops at their centered positions. The backing plate and hinges inside the cassette door are metal. What isn't metal generally has the look and feel of it.

Sound quality is very much like its build. The M70 is better but the 20/20 is fairly close.Actually (if my memory serves me) I prefer the amount of bass the 20/20 will put out at lower volumes as compared to the M70.However,since I have no way of measuring, this could be more a question of balance since the M70s mids have slightly more presence and are cleaner.

In my opinion, the 20/20 is one of the best off branded boxes if your looking for build and quality of sound. You can't go wrong with one of these and it just might become your favorite all around box.Personally I like it better than the M70 though most here would likely disagree with that opinion.Get one ASAP!
