Just picked up a JVC rc-w44 from a friend for free. Box sounds great and looks even better but there is one small problem....extremely loud buzzing.
After playing around with it for a while i found that it is in the record decks play button. I didn't realize but the plastic buttons are actually chromed and when i apply the lightest touch the buzzing stops. Just to be sure it was an actual short, i applied the same pressure with my hand covered with plastic and the buzzing persisted.
How should i go about fixing this?

It could be that the record slide switch is stuck. This is the switch on the pc board that when record is pressed it activates switch with bar :-D You can spray with deoxit and press switch a few times and that should work ;-)

I have seen that on another box but it stopped when i messed with the record switch, not the play switch, thats why i wasnt really sure about this one.

I remember having the exact same issue with mine back in the day....of course not knowing any better I got it to stop by slapping the sides of the box. It did it a bunch of times the first year or so I had it, then it finally went away for good :-)

most of the time the metal inside the record bar and basicly all switches get oxidized with a good deoxit cleaning or contac cleaner it should work unless its badly pitted where it needs to be replaced ..but the mayority of times with a good cleaning it will work...
