what a crazy couple of weeks. the good and the bad mixed together.
the good was hanging out with my old band mate who is now living in england jack.
we had a fun few days hanging out and it was cool talking about old times and times yet to come. i have a feeling jack is on the cusp of really breaking through with his new music project but i will keep that a secret for now. one of the days we hung out we went and grabbed the french canadian treat known as poutine from a place in vancouver called belgian fries.
omfg i mean i didnt really know what to expect from this place but i departed my wallet of nine bucks and in a few minutes i had a bowl more like a bucket of fries with gravy and cheese curds on it,oh yeah i forgot about the bacon.
dont get to excited it sounds a lot more fun that it was in fact i couldnt get through it. the thought of all this sludge entering my body almost induced a panic attack right out of the gate.
i sold off a lot of studio gear the last few weeks too. old tube amps i wasnt using old synths i didnt want anymore made some ok cash. most of the people who came by were pretty good but one douche had to be dealt with extreme hard sell tactics.
i mean we agreed on a price for a super rare synth and i had all the original documentation but when he showed up he did what i expected and tried to low ball.
i told him to drop dead and get out or i would call the cops. sure enough he came up with the dough rite aways.

i answered a add for a band looking for a new member looked pretty cool on paper but in the end it was a joke. they sounded like someone playing midi files of old synthpop songs through a general midi casio synth. it was just brootal.
they had said they wanted to do something completely different from what they were doing but when i showed up they just played there own old songs over my beats. it was just awful. once they through out the autotuned vocals i just cut it short and said nah dudes it aint for me.
then there is my regular band who kind of let me down this week. after many months of wanting to record more music the singer showed up in town gave some bs story about how she was staying at a studio and we could just record there. i was skeptical and well gave it a shot but when i showed up there there was nothing but a room filled with guitar amps and nothing resembling a studio. it was pretty effin stupid but i was not surprised. finally i just gave her the songs from my hard drive and told her she could deal with them back in montreal.
this in other words was my polite way of getting rid of the burden of having to care about it anymore.
so where does this leave me in terms of stuff.

one i have been doing tons of music lately but not in the way i have been in the past. i am done making songs i am going back into full on experimental electronic music.
no more drummers no more singers none of that . i am not saying this is all i am going to do now but i am through with the lameness of stuff.
i think i am better off on my own. i mean i dont really need to work with anyone else on regular basis. i got someone who wants to put it out so its all good.
no new finds lately havent had the time to go looking been busy. might be a while till i am back posting here on a regular basis but i will be poking my head in every now and again. hope you guys are all doing well and you can count on me finding something cool soon .

Sorry, Bill, I'm a musician, too, so I know what a pain it can be dealing with band stuff. Hope you have better luck with your new projects :-)

I know the feeling, too.... that the only person you can truly rely on to do things the way you want, is yourself.

The turning point comes when you start to take comfort in that, rather than despair. ;-)

Chin up and keep boomin'!

If you are back to making experimental electronic... then you need a Memorymoog!!

...and an electrical engineer to keep it running

yes this is the way i am kind of looking at it. i mean i need to do something different because the way stuff is going is just not for me anymore.
i mean i dont really know what the bit is i need to do next but i know what i am doing needs to cease.
people are just kind of weird when it comes to work ethic. thats not really something you can teach or develop either you have it or not.
with regard to the vintage synths i still like them and i still prefer to work within that world but the inevitable demise of them all is something i can see now more than ever.
more and more of the the ones that could be used for parts are just being dumped at your local recyling centers.
i talked to some people overseas in asia and the uk who have told me there is laws in the works that will make old electronics illegal to sell.
i was shocked by that one i mean wtf is up with that.

WHAT? How is that good for the environment? That would only be good for Manufacturers, Wholesalers, and Retailers. Gee that would be a shocker since greed is more than ever the driving force for most laws, thougts, and decisions.
It's absolutely disgusting.

yah so the last two weeks since i caught wind of that crap and believe me it is on its way i have really been looking at the old synths now in a different light. i sure as hell dont want to go with new software based gear i hate it. i mean a computer based synth modelling a analog synth is kind of the sam as driving a 426 hemi charger in a driving simulation just not the same.
its frustrating because you can buy new old school analog synths but the cost of them is super expensive then again i could sell up everything and perhaps walk aways with a new prophet8 and perhaps a andromeda.
its just not the same tho. it sounds different and the build quality just does not compare.
