The year of 1979 the Hitachi TRK-8180E was for the first time available in this world.
2 years later in the year of 1981 the Hitachi TRK-8180EM became available too ! :)
The thing is which one you like best??

The EM version is having a phono connection
the E version has a Line-In connection.
The EM was found just 5 days ago.
I thought that a family picture deserves to be
uploaded here at boomboxery.
Here are the two brothers from HITACHI.

Both look great but I`d pick the darker one.
Many of the top companies built their boomboxes really well in the late `70`s and early `80`s (which was usually reflected in the high prices- for the time)
Then sadly less metal was used for both the finishes and many of the internals ..at least it made them lighter I suppose :).
I`m one of the old skool who buys audio equipment for what it sounds like and it`s build quality rather than how heavy it is though.

silver one it stans out better. and it would look nice with those black cone speakers in it. they would give it a hifi look

Damn Deech!

I'd go for the darker one.. It really contrasts the silver bezels. It would have been nice if the tweeter grills were also black like the woofers

I've always equated weight with build quality as in more parts and heavier parts. it's not always the case 100% of the time but it's a good baseline to start with.
