I would suggest that a better option would be a 4-piece hook and pick kit like the following. This particular one can be picked up at Walmart for less than $5.

Those picks are great for replacing belts. I bought a cheap set of dental picks and they work wonders for routing the belts through tight spaces.

Good advice guys. I resisted temptation. I have the belt tool from Studio Sound Electronics anyway. Incidentally, they're running down all their cassette spares to discontinue, so now's the time to buy.

I actually wouldn’t mind having that in my tool kit. Sometimes, in certain situations. The pick tools just don’t work. And needlenose, even thin ones require the entire jaw to pivot meaning a certain opening size is required because the jaw spreads. But this one is unique in that only the snout and not the entire stem (bronto neck) needs to spread, so it can snake through a small opening. Granted the number of times you’ll actually need it is small but when you do, you’d really wish you had this.
