Hey,
So could anybody help me with this one?
The story is that I got it from Germany, and it arrived smashed. The transformer broke loose ripping loose the power wires and god knows what.. Went to an electronics shop and they worked on it for ages, superglued the transformer back and got it running. Then they call me and say "we cannot continue due to compromised safety" well what have they been doing up until then? Anyways I didn't have to pay, so I went to another shop. They said they didn't have any parts and that it would be impossible to fix it without parts. That might be true for the decks, but are there specific speaker parts as well? So in conclusion,
It has the following faults:
1. Only the left speaker works properly. When you connect anything to the front you can get stereo but at very low volume.. Sometimes it temporarily switches to stereo. I did open it when it arrive but I only ever got one speaker to work.. Would love to have two. Also, I can't get it open since it came back  ...
2. The decks are f***d up. One plays too fast and the other one rips out the tape from the cassettes. I could live without this as this might not be possible to fix without getting a second identical faulty box .
3. There are some levers that doesn't work, mic mixing etc.

It looks gorgeous, just wish it would actually output accordingly to its volume..
Not too experience when it comes to this stuff, so forgive my ignorance.

Peace

First and foremost, we need to get that ICS open. When you remove all the screws from the back of the case, does it start to open at all? Does it feel like it's being caught on something? A lot of times, you have to open the cassette doors to completely open a boombox.

This box should not need doors open to remove back cover. Possibly one or more screws posts are stripped or there is a broken post behind frame inside box. I've had both these problems before. For removing due to being stripped you must pull with pressure of back while trying to unscrew. If post is broken behind frame it will be very difficult to remove. But if you can pull back far enough away you may be able to use very long long nose pliers to hold post while unscrewing...

Yeah I think that's the problem Bill, the screws are worn out, won't even move when I try.. I'll take it back to the shop so they can open it for me I think, should be a couple of weeks though.
I'll take some pictures when it's open.

Peace

So it's sorted now, after the summer the box just magically decided to work again, and now both channels work though it switches between two channels - one channel with just a light turn of the knob. But it's good enough and the volume is now FREAKING LOUD.
Might fix the decks when I have more knowledge.

Peace
