OK, Although the pictures shown below are NOT "Boom Boxes" or "Ghettoblasters" I do find them to be interesting.

First off, non of these are mine. They belong to various friends and family. Some of them have owned them for a very long time and each one of them has a story behind them and are important enough for them to keep.

First off is this General Electric AM / FM 8 Track Player. Although this picture is not very good and the radio is covered in paint Spackle, it is in surprisingly good shape and while I was talking about this box with the guy who owns it, he broke out his KISS "Destroyer" 8 track tape, popped it in and cranked it up. The sound was reasonably good for its age. He told me he would be glad to let me have it, but they use it for emergencies when the power goes out to get the weather report. It takes 8 C batteries!

Next is a jWin AM / FM / TV1 / TV2 / WB radio (no cassette). This radio belongs to another friend who told me he has had it since new. He told me that although he had a larger boom box at the time, he found it easier to toss this little radio in a backpack with some beer and go hiking with friends. He said he has had it for about 15 years. Amazingly, this little unit, only a little taller than a beer can, uses 3 D batteries!

Up next is an Emerson Instant Weather Band Radio AM / FM / TV1 / TV2 (no cassette). Again, owned by the same person who owns the jWin, this radio is a bit newer and uses 4 AA batteries. It also features a digital clock with a light (which had the correct time!)

Last but not least is my Dad's little Emerson. He purchased this after I started collecting Boom Boxes and told him I was listening to cassettes again. He told me he had a large collection of cassette tapes but no way to play them. So he found this little radio at a junk store for $1.00 and plugs computer speakers into the head phone jack to make it stereo! Not sure how many batteries it uses.

Every time I see a silver Mono box I get excited, but then realize it's not the one I used to have. For the life of me I can't remember what model I had. It would have been 1978-79-80. When I saw your Sony, again I thought..."Is That It?" But it's not...

Truth be known...that's why I started this thread...maybe if enough people post their Mono boxes I will see the one I used to have.

The search continues!

Nice Clean boxes btw!
