BREAK DANCE MUSIC

does anyone remember back in the days of break dance 1980s there was these records that came out every 2-3 weeks with new dance tunes they were numbered 1 to say 16 they were plain sometimes fluro colour sleeves sometimes you got 2 records i thinks
they were like the modern day ministery of sound stuff
any one can help me wit this dont hold back
hey if anyone can tell me what iam talking about they must truley be god

In the UK we had the excellent 'Street Sounds' (Soul/Funk) and 'Electro' series.

'Streetsounds' was a great value way of getting the hottest new 12" funk tunes upfront.

'Electro' LP's were generally 'megamix' style so loads of tracks but each only running for 2 or 3 minutes typically.

I think (and I could be wrong) you're after the Ultimate Breaks And Beats series.
They were and stlill are the blue print for break samples and hip hop beats.

They turn up on ebay pretty regularly, might be expensive to get the whole series though.

I downloaded all mine, in the true tradtion of sharing music.

The Street Sounds comps are AMAZING too! There could've even been another series of records here that you're thinking about that were exclusive to .au.
I'll be very interested to see if we can find out what they were!
