BOSE SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker - boombox spirit?

The commercial really provides some boombox vibes imo...is this a step in the right direction?
Or a modern epic fail?

A retail price of 300 bucks makes me step away from testing it myself

But at least somebody is adding something new to the boombox-inspired products of today...

seen things like that for the i-phone, they're loud as hell and very nice sound, but it's not the oldschool flavoooooooour

Having had a bunch of BOSE products I no doubt think this things sounds bad at all. The Sound dock 10 (which I sold) was friggin amazing. I'd listen to it first before I make any judgement.

I don't have much faith in wireless........The sound isn't going to be as precise as with wired speakers

I believe they have the essence of what a boombox is/was; sharing your music with the masses. But, this is a flat, boxy thing lacking the 'flavour' of a portable stereo. It would be like calling tofu and roast chicken dinner the same stuff. Yes they both constitute as food, but no, they are not the same, ya know?
