Does any one else have a Boombox with a TIMER? Not an Auto Shut Off, but a Schedule Timer.

Last year I bought this Palladium off of eBay Germany. It's in really nice condition and sounds very good. I have actually used it quite a bit.

Last week my wife and I had a Christmas dinner party and when it came time to choose a radio to take up stairs to provide easy listening music during dinner, I chose this radio for it's nice full bass at low volume.

At the end of the evening my wife turned off the radio and that was it.

Then, a full day and a half later, at 3am I awoke to music. I thought it may have been our neighbors having a party, but I thought "Man, that's really loud". I laid in bed for 30 minutes listening to the racket. I could hear Italian's talking, then music again, but it sounded close and it also sounded "echoy". Our house is all concrete and I thought, "I'm just going to get up and have a look". So I walk down stairs to the main level to find the Palladium delivering the goods as if the party never ended!

I have never used or tried to use the timer feature on this box or any box. In fact, I'm not really sure how it works. Apparently, my wife just pressed the TIMER button and walked away.

So, do any of you have other boxes with this feature?

Very interesting story Chris! :-D Waking up listening to music from your fav radio is pure fun!

My AKAI AJ525 and Quasar both have the time feature.
I am still looking for a Pioneer Mini I had in the late 70s that had the time feature to wake up in the morning listening to music.

I have that box, and a few other timer-equipped boxes, it seemed to be a popular feature in Europe, especially Germany. You basically set a time that the box powers on. Like an alarm clock. So you can set the current time, as well as the power-on time.

Very interesting feature and something I have never played with.

Great photo's above too. I love me a good over complicated blaster

So, I could totally see setting the cassette deck up to record, setting the timer and catching your favorite radio program, baseball game, news channel. Very useful.
