here I start a topic specifically about high frenquencies performance. I bought a toshiba clone (because it was so cheap so why not just try it) and feel the treble is a bit agressive. It's the 3 way speakers, 6 in total. I suspect those small speakers are not so great (or maybe is it the integrated power amplifier pushing a bad sound).

Anyway, let's start this :superduper:

The 5 speakers Magnavox D8300 supposedly has nice treble.

I may be deaf, but i´ve never heard tweeters do anything, how they have to sound like ? I´ve tried covering main drivers but i haven´t managed to listen to , never heard a tweeter do anything, leaving out all those piezo tweeters that never do anything.

The best way to hear what a tweeter does, is to disable your tweeters! I didn't think they did much either, till I finally fixed the wiring on my tweeters in my car after a few years. They really fill out the high frequency sounds of music, it's subtle but it's there, and makes a world of difference!

Your hearing declines with age and exposure. Teenagers can hear up to 19-20 kHz, but it goes downhill from there. I personally can only hear up to 14 or so. Too many fireworks, gunshots, loud music, riding motorcycles, driving with the windows down, etc.

The Panasonic rx-5085 has real good tweeter sound using Metal(type IV)cassettes. I also just replaced the old piezo tweets in my rx-5110 with new car tweets and now it is very crisp on radio.I just recorded some Def Leppard live on virgin TDK SA-X90s and you can really hear the highs well on it. Am now installing some(piezo's) on my beater rx-5150. Hopeing for greater results on it.I'm sure it'll sound great with type IV tapes. They really do make your tweeters sound as bright as possible and also somewhat enhance the low frequencies too. Just bloody hard to find them and when you do they can be expensive.

I'd love to get my hands on at least one Type IV, but yeah, they're so expensive. It's crazy how old technology is getting so pricey.
