What do you guys think about the price guide? Do they show current market prices? Let's take the Holy Grail of Boomboxes GF777, if you get it below 500 bucks, it should be good deal? I know it depends on a lot of things, but...

I'm a beginner and I don't want to get ripped off.

I didn't notice a price guide. But many of us say it's only worth what you're willing to pay for it.

If you get it for less than that limit, then you got a good deal.

I wouldn't pay that much for a 777, but it's possible some one else might. Just depends on the person.

The price guide is hardly a price guide. All it shows is one example of each model's sales price. You could do better by doing a simple search on Ebay that would pull up several examples of that model, not just one.

This happens to be my site. Actually, it has 37 sales for that specific model in the Price Guide, you just have to input it in the search - sharp gf 777

The sales come from ebay. Searching on ebay, you'll find the listing price, not what it sold for. And you'll only find a few, not 37. Only seeing 4 on ebay right now, one for almost $2200, another for almost $2500. And the price guide is just so people can get sort of a range of what they're selling for.

I'm keeping track of sales, update it each night with a few sales. Have plans to add more to the site in the future, old commericials, more listings for manufacturers, pages dedicated to specific boomboxes, like the Grails etc. Still brainstorming ideas on what to add.

Yes, if it's in relatively good shape and works, I think it's a good deal but ultimately it's up to you.

What's interesting is if you sort those 37 sales by price, you'll see people who have it set at Buy Now, tend to get higher prices. The 6 sales over $1,000 were all Buy Nows.

Oh ok, I did not notice because of the way the list is sorted. I would suggest pre-sorting it by brand and then model name, so that the duplicate models are grouped together. Some people might not realize that they can sort the columns.

Also, Ebay does in fact show you the ending price of the last few listings of a model, if you click on "Advanced" at the upper right corner of the screen.

Short be sorted now, have been adding sales but forgot to re-sort. Will check if the plugin can do it automatically. Thanks.

Cool site. The prices sure seem high to me for the select few boxes I tried to look up anyway. Must be increasing in value and I'm still stuck in a time warp.

Ah the never-ending topic. Lol. I don't personally think they're becoming more valuable. I think people are just realising there's goofalls like us that collect/desire these, and people expect that cause a mint condition sold for "×" amount, there's must be worth that. Money is a premium, so people don't budge on price much when they have a price goal.

Keep up the good work!

I got one idea, it would be nice to click on that price row and a link would take you to that ebay listing. When it's not active any more then it's greyed out or shows final price.

Well, seeing as brainstorming is a group activity, there is probably no better place to be for helpful input than right here !

Nice site JLions! :-D

Some of the members here are very quick to criticize & poke holes in other people's hard work & imagination without really giving it a chance or even exploring the idea fully as a concept. :bang:

Great site & thanx for sharing it. I'm sure it will grow into a great resource as long as the bloated egos stop picking it apart prematurely. I know all too well how that feels.

BAM!!

Actually I was the only one who criticized it, and that is only because I failed to notice how his list was sorted. My bad. Moving on.....
