Are you sure the 100 has the tone controls? I thought only the 200 had those. And I don't recall the drum pad series of kaboom to sound significantly better or different than the others, such as the rv-nb1. Lastly, while playing with mine when I first got it, everyone laughed at me when I plunked on that drum pad. Even the kids thought I looked stupid for playing with what even kids think is a toy gimmick, haha. So +1 on the drum pad is iffy at best. However I agree that high control is a plus, especially on tweetered kabooms.

Yep, it has tone controls
+/- 6 on mids and highs, and 0-6 on the bass knob

Yeah, I'm gonna have to call BS to that......There is no way a stone-age scale like that is accurate. Get with the times, a new digital scale is only $10-20!

BS? Not applicable in weights & Measures, BS numbers are awarded for design drawings, not weights, in various areas of manufacture. Weights and Measures, on the other hand, are enforced by HMRC. Currently, the scale on a domestic weighing device has to be within 2% or it couldn't be certified to be sold. That one is only three years old and puts my weight at 16st4, less than one Ounce adrift of that recorded during my annual medical in the same year. Oh, and it's also what the manual says the Technics should weigh with the battery full of D cells. Digital scales aren't permitted for medical use as such devices must use standard weights attached to the other end of the bar that triggers the reading. Each weight has the numbers cast into it so it's possible to tell at a glance whither the reading is correct.
To put it into some sort of perspective, the JVC PC-5 weighs a whole lot more but as this thread clearly has no basis in accurate measurement "a whole lot more" should do fine.

I was sure that someone had already posted the weight of a Technics SA-C05L to this thread, they didn't, so for the record, this is what that monster weighs:

No, your eyes do not deceive you, that's 3st6 , a whopping 24Kg in overseas units of weight!

The only thing heavier is its appetite for D cells when I swap the mains supply out in favour of the battery.

THIS scale is only 3 years old? With its hazy, yellowed display window, and overall 70's styling? If so, sorry my bad.

I just don't trust ones like that, I've used some that were so old that the internal friction on the spinning wheel prevented a good reading.

Nor do I trust those huge vertical scales at doctors offices. You have to stand exactly in the center and don't waver, or else the reading will change dramatically. Not to mention that the iron plates seem to have 2-3 mm of slop from left-to-right when you slide them into position.
