These boombox restoration threads are really inspiring. I have quite a few boomboxes that need some TLC to bring their working specs and looks back to life but I lack the time and skills to dedicate to the project.
Can anyone suggest or recommend shops/folks who specialize in boombox restoration (preferably local to the bay area so I don't have to ship)? My main interest is getting the functions to work properly (cassette players up and running, fix the poor speaker connections and noisy pots, a couple of mine have built in TVs that aren't working). Cosmetics are secondary but if there's someone who does both that'd be awesome. Also interested in someone who knows enough about their electronics to do a few custom mods.
Any suggestions? or will the price of a tech to fix up a cheap boombox make it totally not worth it? Perhaps I should just make the time and dive in myself...
