BoomBox - Remove the Batteries when using the power cord?

Hi everyone

I have a JVC Boomblaster rv-nb70. In the manual, it says that you must remove the batteries when using the power cord. i'd just like to understand, why?
can it cause problems on the long term if i plug the AC power cord while the batteries are still in the Boombox?

(I'm using Nimh Batteries)

Unless it's specified to use rechargeable batteries to prevent (non-rechargeable) batteries from being charged by the power supply - that would cause batteries overheating and leakage.

They are just saying that batteries left in there might corrode and damage the boombox.

Older models did not have batteries cutoff switch (when you plug in the AC cord it pushes the switch) which was disconnecting batteries and sending to voltage from the power supply to them

That is very strange! So does that mean the battery voltage and voltage from power supply both were connected in parallel all the time?

That is right! I have one box like that where you have to pull out the AC cord out from another small compartment like the battery compartment. That door cover leaves a small hole for the wire when it stays closed. That AC cord is attached to the box. I can't remember which box is that.

For me if it's going to be more than a month idle,batteries come out.

The manual doesn't specify if you should use rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries.

That's kind of weird... this is also specified: "Unplug the AC power cord from the unit to supply the power through the batteries in the battery compartment; otherwise, the unit does not work." Otherwise : "The power will not be supplied through the batteries when the power is supplied through the AC outlet on the unit"

I really don't understand, all these things seems contradictory
