Hey Everyone,

I don't know much about boomboxes, but figured this would be the place to ask. I want a classic look that has the ability to play lots of music types and sound good. My question is, I've been looking at some lasonics on ebay and I have mainly been looking at the JVC m70 but don't know what I is a reasonable price to be paying for these. I did see a few m70s on ebay, but what would you guys say would be an expected price to pay for this item? I do see an JVC m70 for $625 with a or best offer, but the seller doesn't really be looking to actually take a best offer. I started with 500 and went to 550, but got the auto deny... would i be paying too much for this ? anyone have any suggestions for nice looking/sounding boomboxes with a budget of 400-$550 ?? Appreciate the help. Thank you!

One question I know I asked after a few years of collecting is... condition first period.
Also if I were to buy one unit, 1 boombox! find the right one? The right condition! members here won't be surprised when I say, A sharp 777, JVC M90, these units are worth having worth waiting for worth paying for.

Foot note

Yes there are other units but without any hesitation the above is solid advice

Hope your search is realized and your realization is true

If you're in the states then M70's are pretty common there and well worth having. No need to spend mega-bucks on any radio though unless it's super rare. I've got two and I'm in the uk where they're much harder to find...paid £50 and £70 for mine. Good luck :-)

If you plan on just using the line in to play music from an MP3 player as opposed to trying to find a radio with a working cassette deck, you can knock allot of money off the price. And if you're looking for an M70 for that reason, just make sure the top sliders work smoothly with no static. Otherwise they will need to be rebuilt.

If this is what you are indeed looking for, there are lots of M70's out there. They come up on eBay all the time, just be patient.

The Lasonic's look great, but can be troublesome. If you're not into doing your own repairs, I would still with the M70.

Welcome to the site! Your question is difficult to answer since the amount you're willing to spend would buy a wide range of models, all of which all have slightly different feature sets that make them interesting/unique. It's easier to talk about price for one specific model, like you are with the M70. It's possible to get one in really good shape for roughly $200-$400.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I ended up pulling the trigger on the JVC m70. Sounds like I overpaid, but they did say they serviced the box. Assuming that adds extra value. I will be planing on using it mostly for radio and mp3 play via line in to aux, so hoping this sounds and works well. Thank you again for the help. :-)
