Plan to modify one of my PHILIPS power stereo´s as custom box.

The front, except the speakers should be quite original.
But the top and the sides will get painted, because scratched. :-/

Should be graffiti style.
But how to do it best?

Airbrush?
Spraying?
Color painting sticks?

Any ideas to do it best? :-)

roman --
get a dozen removable 'clings'
all types :-D
they are very colorful -
and you can change // switch them all around --

and they will give you some previews of your final design-
in case you do decide to paint it

Maybe draw your design onto paper and then tape onto the box to get a good idea of how it will look. If you like it, all you have to do is replicate it on the Philips.

I would say use an airbrush if you know how to use one properly. :-)

Airbrush would be ideal. But paint markers work well too.
Stickers also can cover large flat areas.

Thanks, will try so.

It will be a typical PHILIPS painting. :-D

On top should come the "SOUNDMACHINE" printing, on the sides the Philips-Logo

roman
all you need is a graffiti head to do u a sketch
and then u can replicate it to the box
if youre not into airbrush i would go with master z and take the markers
maybe just the highlights with airbrush or spraycans
good luck on that project

On weekend there will be bad weather.
I have a few trash boxes, i will part next days.
Before they will be good test objects for different methods of painting... :-D

Just thought i'd throw my 2cents in....

Before committing your new design(s) onto your boombox, wrap the boombox with 2 layers of clingwrap/foodwrap/gladwrap....
Then paint your design onto the location desired, and if it looks CRAP...jut peel off the clingwrap, and try again with another clingwrap added....

You could do this all day until you finally like the look, size & position of your artwork....THEN committ to the boombox itself....

Cheap & easy, without ruining a good box !

I added 'writting' onto a toy train for a friend a few years back.

I simply looked through my issues of 'STYLE FILE', an amazing graffiti magazine from Europe; found some designs I liked, then bought several paint pens, and carefully copied the designs on to the train.

It actually turned out amazingly well.

Although I did simple stuff, no Wildstyle. Too complex for my ability and the size of the train.

You can also do what i do with a lot of my bombs... purchase a pack of 8.5x11" sticker back copy paper, gloss if preferred. Then copy and pqste any graff pics that suite. You can adjust them to any size. Unless you're a writer i wouldn't recomend an ambicious or unsatisfying project that could degrade the looks of your box
