Hello have just started my boombox collection as seen in the pic (what do you think? (good start or bad?)). I've also started a collection of 80's Walkman's and was wondering what boombox started other people's collections. 😆20141115_214030.jpg

My Sanyo M9902-2.
It was my very first real boombox.
I got it from my parents on Christmas 1982.
And I still have it……..

WOW! thats looks in good condition. You've looked after that really well.Does it still work? Do you know of any rare boomboxes to add to my collection? I'm still new to boombox collections but I'm hoping to make my collection grow bigger. I did'nt even know people collected them till I found this site and ebay.

Thanks and yes it still works perfectly too……. :-D
As for collecting.
I would just recommend collecting boomers YOU like not what everyone else likes or thinks is the best.
After all it's all about what kinds of boxes you remember seeing or owning when you were younger.
Atleast thats what it's about for me and a lot of others here on the forum.

I think your right skippy. Some of the walkman's I've collected are not all that valuable but I still love them because they're the ones I remember from my childhood.

I saw a picture of a black lasonic TRC-920 was this rare or or did they come in two colours? Looked really cool tho.
From what I understand, the black ones are more uncommon. But they aren't as good soundwise as the silver ones, more show than go.

Hey there 80's Boombox Lover, welcome. I'd say your off to a great start. But there's no such thing as a bad start I'm my opinion. My very 1st boombox back in the day was an Emerson CTR 949

It was the exact same model as the one on the very top shelf, only my original one was silver. I bought the black one I have now from epay, new in the box.

Get ready, because your collection will grow faster than you think! I know mine did.

Great pictures Scott! Now I can put a face to the voice :-)

Lol, believe me, you'll find room for em, you'll stack em, build shelves and have em everywhere. If you look under Collections under "The start to my new Addiction" I have them all on that thread with make and model.

My collection has grown since that post though. As of now I have 14 total, and still growing. 2 of them are turntable boxes which I had no idea even existed until I joined Boomboxery. I bought one of my turntable boxes, the JVC D33, from skippy1969 and I love it. This shiat is so addicting. It NEVER ends...
