Bluetooth Mod for any vintage box: I bought this blue tooth wireless adapter from Logitech for around $30 and a $5 cassette adapter. I cut the power cord, ran it through the 1/4 headphone jack and patched it into the power board to get 5 volts for the blue tooth adapter. Ran the cassette audio cord through the cassette door and plugged it into the audio jack of the blue tooth adapter. Now I can stream music from my Android phone (using A2DP--stereo headset blue tooth transmission) to my Magnavox 8443 Power Player Box! The Logitech adapter is attached to the side of the boombox in the picture.

can you not open up the box and put the bluetooth device inside the case?

awesome mod though, if the boombox has line in can you just go straight from the logitech to the box?

You could but I. Couldn't find a way to extend the pairing button and led from the adaptor as it was all super tiny surface mount electronics inside. The line in jack on this model only works when the tape player is in record mode and there is no audio monitoring.thanks for the feedback, it was a quick and fun project that kept the boombox original with no permanent changes made. Hope some of you try it!

i'm definitely interested in doing something like this to my first box, I was just going to use an FM transmitter but i've heard they're awful

knowing me i'll pick up a unit where the tape deck is busted and i'll be out of luck

when using the cassette adaptor do you get a clean sound or does it have that hiss that everyone hated about tapes?

There is no hiss from the tape adaptor but there is an AC line hum when I use the power cord instead of battery power. I'm working on a filter to eliminate this. Tape hiss comes from the tape moving past the tape head. Since the tape adaptor only puts another tape head (with electro/magnetic signals coming out of it and transferring the signals to the tape head on the boombox, there really is'nt much hiss. Good luck with your first box!

thanks man, appreciate the help,
so is the tape adaptor giving the same audio quality as line in?
i'm having more trouble than it's worth trying to get a box to play well with an ipod- because FM transmitters have interference problems, hardly any boxes have line inputs, and those with phono have RIAA equalisation so the bass/treble is messed up unless you tweak the EQ

maybe the tape adaptor is the best method overall
