Forgive me if the topic has been discused...I'm new to the forum. Looking for a list of the eariest bbx units. I know that in the late 60s there were a few AM/FM cassette players which were portable, but were not in what is considerd a Boombox confiuration......suitecase unit, AM/FM stereo cassette recorder/player with condenser mics.
I'll admit I'm a fan of Sony's and I know many bbx collectors don't like Sony, but there CF-550 from 1971 seems to be a candidate as one of the earliest units ? The CF-550 and the later beefed up model CF-580 also had the not often seen side firing speakers in addition to the front ones.....Sony called it "Matrix sound". I have seen a unit labeled Candle which had the side speakers (looked very much like the Sony's from the 1970s.
Would like to hear about any bbx from the early days....late 60s or early 70s.
