We can rebuild him!!!!
With a pair of Jamo 4 ohm 35 watt 6 1/2 inch speakers, the Nippon FS-2440 is back and better than ever.
But it would not be complete without some unorthodox installation technics which I have been known for.
I had to drop the speakers in from the front to clear the depth but that was not all.
I had to flatten the lip of the speaker edge in order to get the bolt trims to fit again. :hmmm:
So the box was not modded in any way to perform the installation and the new drivers are sandwiched in there
tight and snug.
Now my only problem is trying to keep the battery door from vibrating because of the bass!!!
This box Jams now and is friggin loud!!!!
The bass kicks so nice you can actually see the bolts behind the grilles pulsate to the beat!!!!
Its awesome and I am now very happy .
Enjoy the pics and vid, I am enjoying some Fleetwod Mac on it right now and it sounds Beautiful.

Yeah, mine buzzes like crazy too with the bass turned up so I know exactly what you're talking about.

Superlative resoration, Frank. You really do some fabulous work!

I need one of these radios. Badly, I've decided.

Anyone got one they want to sell??

I'd like to know a good remedy for the battery cover vibration too. My S90's rife with it.
Was thinking of trying some thick double sided tape and not removing one side, or gap sealing tape that's like an adheisve foam strip.

But I'm sure there's some bright spark on here with a better idea though.

Rock On.

:w00t: Fantastic! You picked a great looking box to do this to.All you need now is to come up with a disco-lite arrangement for the bolts. Those bolts flashing would be really cool!

Yo frank are those jamos from partsexpress? I was looking at them but figured the magnet height was too tall. Great idea and way to think outside the box! Lol.

Damn!!...do those speakers come in 8 inch? I am working on a project boombox and trying to add some power via new amps and would love to get a pair of those...where did you get them?

They are 6 1/2 Jamo woofers from parts express.
They are the 6 ohm ones.
They also have an 8 ohm which is shallower.
I dropped the drivers down from the top because they wouldn't clear the circuitry in the back.
Well worth the price I think they were a little over 9 dollars a piece

I would think weather stripping would work wonders. That's what I used for the license plate cover on my wifeys car. Normally when you buy decent speakers you will get a small spiral of it anyway to use between the frame and the speaker.

Wow man, I just watched that video. I'm impressed on how hard you got on that volume knob and it really wasn't distorting Very impressive Mod!!
