Anyone have any thoughts on which classic boxes had the best receivers? Were there certain mfrs that made better receivers than others? Any specific boxes known to have good receivers?

Thanks,

Randy

The Telefunken Studio 1 or 1M's tuner is probably the best. Good selectivity/sensitivity with
a very high signal to noise ratio when compared to all other boxes.

Keep in mind that these boxes are getting old and certain electronic components
within the tuner will eventually drift out of spec which will hinder performance.
You can have two identical boxes with different results due to one of tuners
being misaligned more than the other.

The JVC M90 and M70 have excellent tuners as well....but my favorite is my Sanyo M-X920. The sound and reception are second to none.

This has the best reception of all my boomboxes by a huge margin.

I personally don't think the Studio 1 is all that great.

My best is the JVC rc838jw.........I can pick up a few stations from China & Taiwan
