I've never actually seen one in person and was under the impression it was a bigger than it is.
It is rather hadsome and well built, very good build infact. and the sound, ROCKIN"'!!!!  :w00t:
It could rival the big boys I have in my collection, I am going to do a shootout with the likes of my Rising 20/20, the Lasonic 931 and the big Prosonic. I think it will be able to hold it's own!
And I love the tweeter horns on it, reminds me of my trusty 656 that I let go. Here it is reincarnated in Bad Ass form!
Thanks Don for a hell of a deal!
Enjoy!
Paul Z.

Here it is after I did an initial cleaning. still need to crack it open and clean the inside and re paint the grills.
BTW, do the mesh grills come off buy unscrewing the allen bolts on the front? or I get to them when I open it up?

Hi Master Z-No the grills only come off if you take the whole box apart-Do not try to remove the front screws-They're for show only!! :nonono:
I ought to know-tried it when I first got one of mine-so you'll have to take it apart all the way.
Have a great weekend-GB. :-)

The M70 looks great in your collection.

As for the grills they are glued into place on the M70, even if you take the trim ring off you won't be able to get them up. Does anybody know a way to dissolve the glue without harming the boombox? If there's a way to safely dissolve the glue then you can remove them without taking the box apart.

Yeah I tried prying the trim rings off, but gave up short of F'ing up the finish. I'll probably end up taking the front cab and masking it off to paint, if I cant get the grills off.

I've removed the grills on a jacked up case and I'll tell you that was one tough job, those grills were practically welded to the case. I ruined the case doing it but didn't care because it was busted up anyway.

yea they seem to be glued in very well in the plastic

I don't know what JVC was thinking here but they never intended for those grills to come off. :sadno:

.........And even masking the case off isn't going to be easy either because there is a silver bevel behind the grill that is virtually imposible to mask. Painting the grill from the outside means that bevel gets the black treatment too unless you can find a way to do it. I gave up on mine and left it....

SD I didn't notice that, guess I didn't look close enough but that would make it hard to paint. JVC did so well with this box then they went and did something like fusing the grills to the case, they didn't have to do that.

Congrats on your M70!

Very nice amp setup in the M70. Twin BTL amp chips (one for each channel) make a clean 15 watts RMS per side using the line cord (or fresh alkalines). The amp chip in the M90 is basically the same, but is a different package style allowing it to drive lower impedances.

I can hear mine from blocks away. Not that I would ever crank it that loud...

The M70 will spoil you for sure!
