My lasonic 931 (first gen) works great plugged in, but once I insert all the batteries, it doesn't power on. The battery compartment looks very clean though. Any tips? anyone else with this problem?

is there an ac/dc switch on the back of the box? if so have have to set it to dc to get it to work on batteries.

Try with a set of brand new batteries.
I know that might sound obvious, but it definitely makes a difference in some boxes. My Clairtone had some old Energizer batteries in it and still worked fine. I took them out and placed them in an M70 and I got nothing. Bought new batteries for the M70 and it cranks now.

:agree: this is the most common reason one power source doesn't work on the 931's.
Even if you switched it to DC it's still possible the switch isn't working properly, give it a little De-Oxit treatment first before digging in to it.

This is exactly what happened. I just bought some brand new batteries and it works perfect. The batteries i had used before were only a week old and they worked fine on my other boxes. Wow, this lasonic must really be powerful, ehh. Thanks a lot guys!!!! respect!!!

sometimes rolling the batteries in the compartment has helped at times...or moving them around....could be the contacts

Hate to admit it, but I am guilty of such a simple switch setting- :-O ;-)
