Bass on a Budget?

Whenever I read about the boxes that are in my (low) price range they are usually classed as lacking bass. So I was wondering which small to mid size boxes punch out the best bass per pound, dollar, euro?

An Hitachi 3D80 pounds pretty hard for relatively low cost.

Well if you're lucky you can pick up a high end box cheap...takes time, effort, and luck but we all have stories about cheap deals

£50 max and mainly indoor use

Universum Super Sound 16000 can be found for that price, and sounds great indoors. Aiwas, Crowns and Risings are more like £100-200, if we're talking Ebay. If not, then you could theoretically find any box for only £1.

Sharp GF-8989 go for under £100 and they look good, but the bass is just OK not great.

Hitachi 3D are very common, good bass, and probably your best bet.

Yep, Hitachi 3D8 wins for bass for buck in my book - reliable tuners, proper line in and easy to work on.

Now if you want REAL BASS, then the DIY route is the way to go!

Yeh Risings are thin on the ground here in the uk, though I found one for £50 lol...it's one of my favourites.

Also got an M70 for £50 as well as other great boxes for this or less.

The Hitachi 3D's are a lot of bang for your buck and easy to find as Reli says.

Lasonic TRC 918 , these usually go pretty cheap even though it will absolutely smoke the **** out of 80 percent of the smaller mid sized boxes.

Don't settle for anything less than a JVC M70. That is the way to go....or else you will be a hungry and angry man....never satisfied with the cheap boxes you acquire!
