How did I miss this post earlier? :dunce:

That's a nice list. Nothing beats "Dark Side of the Moon" on vinyl. And of course, Ozzy's best albums. Sorry to say, I know absolutely nothing about that last group of artists. :-/

Do you still have your JVC boomers?

Thanks for all the replies ! cool i have been absent for quite a while . . . . .
been busy building my new recording studio building and now i am back !

yep i still have my JVC BOOMERS !
2x M80 (one is messed up barely works and one is clean and works well)
M60
and i have a PC-X200 for CD or Cassette

i also have a couple Sharp RD-688AV which really don't compare
to the JVCs yet i like that they DO NOT have radios / no tuner that is
just what i always wanted ! i quit listening to the radio in the early 1980's after
DC101 (Washington D.C.) did their promo spot with swooshing sounds
& the heavy vocal sound ~ "kick asss rock and roll d.c. one oh one"
and then played some glam metal . . . .i won't say what band as to not offend anyone . . . .lol.

and that was it ! later i realized that the radio stations and the music industry
had been just telling us that whatever they play is a hit and the greatest band ever ...lol....
so the RD-688AV is kinda neat and very loud.

Here i will reply about the bands in the re-replies.....

Sabbath ~ into the void ~ sounds great on the JVC M80 ....yes ! heavy and the
M80 keeps the sound tight !
Pink Floyd ~ Dark side of the moon ~ TOTALLY the production values are perfect
for the boomboxes.
King Crimson on vinyl ! yep i like going from the records to tape and the
Discipline album just has such great sound and these JVC's can deliver it !
the other bands on the list are very heavy and the Vortex of Insanity
Social Decay EP sounds like it was made for TAPE.
Sounds even better to me than the CD that i made my tape from !
its the tape saturation however the frequencies must be within certain boundries
for the best effect and with the Vortex of Insanity sound being so tight to begin with
makes the Boombox sound amazing and visa versa.
IF you like 1980's - 1990's Heavy Metal then Vortex of Insanity will rock your box !

Last bit here.....

I already made a post about it and will do another when IT arrives.....
i just bought a R-30E . . . .hoping it will work on my M80 and M60 and from
the various posts sounds like it just might ! i will still be looking for that R-15E regardless...lol.

BOOMBOXERY ROCKS !
Later Ya'll

Some good interesting info there, even though I'm not into all of the music you mentioned i think they are worth at least a one time listen and maybe you'll get me started on something else to listen to permanently, thanks !!!

Hey Dave !
yes for sure worth atleast one listen or two . . . . .
i listed the bands that mostly have good sound to begin with
and with a good working box its a real experience !

only a few on my list are there based on pure opinion of taste....
am not really a Spice Girls fan...lol....yet the title cut is great for
hearing what is going on with a unit.....as with
One Slip by Pink Floyd ! awsome for "checking" sound quality !
and Pink Floyd is awsome :)

and i am truly bias about the last list of bands...i admit .....yet
the Vortex of Insanity does really sound amazing on my Boomboxes
and i totally suggest the Social Decay EP for Heavy Metal Fans
that also dig the analog tape saturation !

Push it to the limit and use Type II tape for recording just don't go too hot
as we all know will add distortion ~ stay in the parameters !
Forget the Dolby alltogether ! simply get a good recording level
and toggle the bias selector for crispy highs on playback !

Keep on Boomin' !!!! ANALOG RULES !
