Maybe we could record a bit of ' some ' boomboxes playing,

with good some pro microphones and post some results here.

I will do that soon for both of my boomboxes

My Hitachi TRK-8190E

and my SANWA 701B

Boomus Fidelis
Nice idea!

The question is, how comes it over from the net?
With cheap computer speakers the result will be ruined.... :hmmm:

Yup... while I really the idea... the only real way to accurately compare boombox to boombox sound is in person, when you can control all of the variables and limit them to the bare minimum.

Even for those of us who regularly go to the Sunshine meet, the question of line-in vs. cassette vs. radio comparisons always comes up and is just as much of a debate... Personally, I use mostly tapes (and did in the past) so I prefer to do cassette vs. cassette comparisons, even though using same source and a splitter to two boombox line-ins and simply dialing to the same FM radio station are the easiest ways to have the same signal going to a boombox.... Then again, I'm a nutso tapehead.

So, imagine trying to do that kind of comparison over the internet and with different microphones and all different source material... oy-vay!
