The IMT is a really nice unit no doubt. But if you want to go retro with nice bass and not heavy to haul you'd be hard pressed to beat the RX-DT6XX/7XX/9XX series. They are loud enough, are cassette capable, the XBS function is superb, and they don't eat batteries at an alarming rate.

You'd never carry an FH. It's a home stereo with a handle, much like the Telefunken Hi-Fi Studio 1/1M. Plus, the only units within the series that are designed fully fo D cell operation are the FH-3 and FH-5...and they are tanks. Beautiful sounding tanks, but tanks nonetheless.

I would also recommend a Kaboom. There are so many variants it'll make your head spin. The main downside to Kabooms are that the highs are stuffed. Otherwise it'll rattle your room.

As far as single piece classic options I'd recommend a number of Sharps (9X9X series) or JVC's (Primarily the M70) but clarify what your intentions for the radio are. Do you plan to haul it around or will it's primary role in life be that of a table top or shelf unit? :-D

Well.......you could use a cassette walkman and play it through one of the twin line in ports on the IMT800. :w00t:
But that doesn't cover the classic look part does it Freddie? :hmmm:

Kinda like classic with iPod in reverse, but the iPod can actually be reasonably attached using a 1' cord and velcro that can be removed. Especially a Nano.

The Walkman...not so much. (Maybe a DD9 though but still...)

Decisions, decisions....haha....i guess i am leaning toward the imt, mainly due to the fact that it will see some outdoor duty, and maybe pick up a classic for at home use only :-) but that cs780 does look tempting...Oh, and do the rx-dt6xx's not have a line input??
