we all love boomboxes here but what do you spend most of your time listening to music on.

for outside its boomboxes --what else ??? :-)

for inside --its a pair of tele studio speakers hooked to
a panny receiver hooked to a big roof antenna-

( the receiver has a real good built in deck)

I'd say that 85% of the time, I'm listening to a boombox and 10% of the time, I'm in the truck listening to the radio. IPod only gets about 5% unless it's hooked up to a boomer. :-D

For all my outdoor activities, in the backyard, the garage, the front yard, I listen to boomboxes exclusively. When inside the house I use a boombox 70% of the time. The other 30% is my audiophile home system, usually wearing headphones (Sennheiser HD800) because it is way too loud to listen to the way I like it... :-D . When I am at the basketball court I use my M70 or M90 only, because they are my best outdoor boxes. Those 2 have the best mix of quality sound and volume.

With the addition of the Sony FH-207 I am using my home system less and less. The only time my home system gets used now is when the family is in the Theater Room watching a movie. My Theater is equipped with an Onkyo 7.1 surround receiver, Bowers & Wilkens mids and tweets, and Velodyne subs in every corner...even with this insane system I prefer boomboxes. All six bedrooms in my house have a boombox, I have thrown away all the eggs that used to occupy the rooms. So basically everyone in my family uses a boombox as their main choice for listening.

My daughters box of choice is her custom Blockbuster, my son prefers his Panny CS 780, my wife the JVC PC-V2J, and I prefer everything else!!

Lately the best part about having boomboxes is all my friends and my wifes friends always call me when they are having a bbq or outdoor party and ask if I can bring over a couple boomboxes to provide the music! So I love the fact that my boomers get lots of play. There are no shelf queens allowed in my house!!

When (hanging out/partying) with friends outside the boombox is the device of choice, of course. In my room I listen to music via house stereo which I have connected to my computer. On the go I listen to my ipod.

Since my Sony ES receiver died about a year ago, I only listen to music on boxes when I'm home...

I've totally lost interest in home stereo equipment because of that.

This is a big toss up.
I have three really nice listening areas in my house with great gear and the boomboxes.
I go through phases I guess sometimes exclusively boomboxes other times the home systems
get all the love.
I would say about 50 50 depending on the mood.

at home I listen to my vintage Hi Fi set up a lot:w00t: . In the mornings I use boomboxes to get ready for work.
On the weekends, its all about the boxes

Hey frank, what's that box in your avatar? Looks sweet!

I love listening to my bbx's, radio, tape deck and line in but I also love listening to my i931 with ipod and my new inovative technology box with ipod. I have so many its always a hard decision on which one   If you ask me which is my favorite I believe I change my mind so often that I just could not say. :hmmm: I do own a real nice Technics component system but that is primarily for movie theater. In my firebird I have a nice ipod deck that you put the ipod into the deck and totally control ipod from face

In summer its definately a box outside prob Lasonic 935 or 931 with ipod in tow. However indoors i have several options. Downstairs in the mancave is a SANSUI vintage amp hooked up to an AKAI gxc 709 tape deck and some lovingly restored JBL,s Oh and circa 1974 akai turntable. Upstairs is the main lounge with 50 inch FUJITSU plaz and full home theartre,PS 3 ,NINTENDO wii ETC. and smaller lounge with 32 inch lcd hooked up to small but very grunty DENON 2 channel home theartre. But boxes always rate highly withe me no matter what... :-D

i use the boomboxes a fair bit but ultimately if i am inside i will almost always go to one of the big home stereos to listen to music.
sometimes i will listen to a boombox in a different room when i am working out or something like that.

i think it is about a fifty fifty deal for me.
i never listen to anything with earbud style headphones. they dont work for me and a very few ammount of headphones work for me as well.

I have a box in my living room, kitchen, bathroom ,and basement and 99% they are playing the local jazz station or some other public broadcasting. However I have been getting some good tapes and those are being played threw the boomers but if I want to listen to records my 1200s are pumped threw my powered Events.. The boomers have been getting way more playtime than the records these days..

Other then in the car, I have only been listing to music on my Blasters. But I do have all my home stereo components from the 80's as well. I need to have my speakers rebuilt and do a little work to a few other things to get that system back up and running. So for now, my blasters cover everything that I need!

If I'm just lounging or I am just walking about the house - a boombox makes more sense to me

If I want to LISTEN to music - I use my Hi Fi

Good question bill and I'll bet the answer is heavily influenced by our daily lives.
My breakdown is roughly:
35% - Car Stereo
35% - Home Stereo
20% - Boomboxes
5% - Bose Wave System in the computer room. (this could be considered in the boombox category)
5% - Other
