Probably a long shot but the tuner could use an alignment and I'd really like to fix it -- I love this box!

Model number is Kingspoint PS-440, made in Japan. Must be a bunch of alias' for this guy. Service manuals don't seem to exist for this manufacturer, must not have been around long enough.

If the tuner problem is just the pointer being out of place, you might be able to open it up and reset the pointer on the string. It's not a difficult job to do, but sometimes getting to the pointer can be.

Thanks! I knew someone knew. Unfortunately, all seem to be off brands (or not well known) and no better luck at the service manual.

Fatdog, I WISH it was just the needle. It needs an actual alignment of the tuner. This typically involves peaking the coils and has a very specific procedure and hookup points for the signal generator and oscilloscope. Adjustment points are generally going to be trimmer capacitors, IF transformers and coils. Specs that will be needed are the signal frequency and modulation and injection points. Without all of this data, it's possible to throw the tuner off so far it'll be virtually unusable if done blindly.

An affiliated model probably has a similar tuner board inside and that information can probably be used to tune this board as well.

Wow. Did an online search of ALL the affiliated alias' and found nothing. Maybe I WILL need to do this blind after all.

Sorry to hear that it won't be an easy fix. Yeah, the no-name, or lesser-known, brands are almost always a dead-end when it comes to manuals.

Good luck, SD!

superduper i have done a few like that but its the only way and i have been able to adjust without to much of a hassle unless there is a bad trimmer cap or something ,, what i have seen on some is drift of frequency or its off where the dial pointer is on one frequency but its playing on a different station if you go by the dial num thats on the face i check to make sure its not the pointer thats loose and there are some that only pickup real strong stations and you got the tuner with the afc ,but i would not be to concerned as you could just adjust slightly to see if that corrects the problem as some drifting will ocur on these analog tuners :-)
