A friend of mine scored this from Craigslist the other day for $40! I believe this is the CONION Epsilon Explode 5000. I did a Google search to find out what year these came out but I came up with nothing. Anybody have any idea of the manufacture date on this model? Or should it be stamped somewhere on the Boombox?View attachment 13800

Lol, Thanks Scott, but its not mine :-( I guess I should have clarified a little more. A friend of mine bought it off of Craigslist from Burbank and its his. I WISH it was mine! Especially at 40 bucks! But neither one of us could find any true info on it on the internet. Im hoping someone can chime in and help us find a manufacture date on this MONSTER.

I would guess by the build quality of this particular model, late 1980's early 1990's.
Only way to find out for sure is to find the date code. Possibly stamped
somewhere inside of the radio body.
These radios are massive and look the business, but imho the sound is not very impressive at all.

Thanks, I'll have my friend check out the insides and see if he finds anything in there besides dust. I haven't heard it personally yet, he says its loud but aren't they all Lol, as far as sound quality, I shall see, looks are cool though

if its anything like my helix hx 905 that thing was painfully loud and not too bad sounding . but it was so cheaply made it was almost comical. my guess would be 1986/87.

Yes! I think it is made around year 86/88.
I've seen date stamps on motors and on some internal components. Somewhere on the inside of the plastic body might also have a date stamp. They started to make things cheaper and lighter at that time. Small main transformers replaced the bigger and better ones.

Cheaper and cheaper, a tradition that has been proudly carried on by the Chinese manufacturing sector. Find out what the breaking limit is and build just above it saving $0.03 on every 5 units!

"This radio is so long....How Long Is It?"

It's so long...
it needs a hinge in the middle to get around street corners!

You leave the house, walk around the block, come home and one end of it is still there!

Dubbing a tape takes place in two time zones!

When you put it on "Stereo Wide" it can only be heard in Canada and Mexico!

Seems to have a couple LCD screens? I wonder what for?
Also universal voltage, which is unusual for a cheap-o box.
