Looking for some assistance here as I can't find a service manual.

The deck on mine will not engage play and I'm wondering if there is a leaf switch broken underneath the front plate.
If anyone has one of these can you please help out?

Does this leaf switch look correct?

Playing with the highlighted arm that engages that leaf switch seems to be stuck/locking. Might be just a grease issue.

Seems like this lever is coming against something stopping it raise the heads. The heads on their own raise no problem just that lever which raises the heads is getting stuck on something.

If I push it, it will pass whatever is stopping it and will work once and pressing stop puts it back into being blocked and play not working.

It is really difficult to see from either side what could be causing it.

Feels like perhaps a spring is missing? Any help appreciated.

Looks like the switch is ok.

The lever engages somehow beneath the head plate and needs to be seen from the rear which means a complete gear tear down from the rear.

Here Is the issue.
This gear cog which engages the flywheel should spring a little clockwise when the lever is pushed out of the way.
I’ve cleaned everything, there is zero old grease, and the screws in the top turn about once and completely stiffen up both far too much for the spring to work 😩

Service manual anyone?

I have a parts box with a working cassette deck if you think you want it as a last resort.

Excellent, that would be awesome.

I think it could be the spring on the lever which is not strong enough to pull the lever back and move the gear.

Please check your PM.

By means of an update of this specific issue, which I think could affect all of the decks in these models.

If you remove the deck rear and flywheel you will see the cog and lever in question.
The posts which these sit on have cracked.

I'm unsure at the moment best way to repair these.
initial thoughts are to tie wrap around the outside and glue from the inside, let dry and remove tie wrap.

Reviving this thread since I just got one and will want to do some work/mods to it. Also, curious as to what the “editor” features does. Thanks in advance!
