Hi there any of you clever people able to tell me what this Box is?
The image is a still from the 80's doc "Paris is Burning". Filmed in NY for those interested.
I'd love to get some info on what this machine is and the kind of price it might go for...
many thanks in advance!

A few boxes shared that same shell:
Panamax 3131
Panamax SEC-2020
Blaunkton Turbo-1
KTO International JC-129
Elin Soundprofi 5418

Keep in mind that many movie studios modified the cosmetic trim of their boombox, probably because they were angry that the manufacturer didn't agree to pay them a product placement fee.

Had a chance to buy the KTO Version locally should have jumped on it! It's big and that's all i knew at the time.

Thats great info and so quick!... thank you. I'll look at all those brands now.
This was in a documentary about street kids in Harlem and the Bronx, so I'm guessing this was not modified by a studio art department but thanks again for the insight.

So was this a generic box? something that got re-labelled by many retailers? I had no idea that was common.
Would there be any way of telling which this might be at all? I can't make out any obvious branding.

Also how did they sound... any good? or just ok?

Thanks again

All of those have slight differences on the speakers
The Blaunkton TC-777 matches though

Don't expect top-notch quality from it though. I traded a Sanyo cassette deck for a Blaunkton Turbo 1 many years ago. The Blaunkton weighed maybe 3 pounds - with batteries! Okay, so I might be exaggerating a little, but it is very empty and very lightweight.

On the plus side, they look amazing!!

Yeah, these are cool for filling in a blank space in your "Boombox Wall" but not for playing music on. They are fragile in build quality and thin in sound quality. But for the right price, I'd have one, for display purposes
