Any universal remote for stereos

Has any one tried using universal remote for stereos like panasonic platinum series(Rx-ct).
I tried a cheap universal remote and tried many codes but no success.
I have A rAK-rx311 remote and looks like the ic is gone :sadno: .is there a chance of repairing it?
