Another Surefire Way Of Ruining Your Day!

I hope this doesn't keep happening to me..............

I bought this lovely RX-5030L which arrived today with a smashed casing, corner post & just to make things worse, cracked tracks on the Pcb around the tone control which unsurprisingly completely fooked up the sound!! Both channels were merging resulting in that odd phasing no vocals effect

Add to that a machine that fought back with problem after problem & almost ending up in the bin outside!! I am so pissed off as it was very very nice before it was posted needing only a new belt as fast forward & play were weak although still struggling to work after nearly 40 years :O

Packing was truly dreadful, poor thing didn't stand a chance of arriving undamaged............I got nearly all my money back but that isn't what I wanted - A panny 5030 undamaged would have made my day - Now I am left with this machine which is now working 100% & looks shiteeeeee.......... So annoyed!!

Casing damage was bad, the post that's used to screw the main case together was smashed & it took a part of the front panel with it & on top of that the paper thin cardboard box had holes in both ends facilitating the escape of all the smaller plastic bits & one large bit, gone forever!!

I repaired the deck & pcb quite quickly after pissing about trying to find out why it sounded so odd!! 4 tracks to scrape back & bridge & that restored correct left & right channel operation on radio & tape!

I forgot to take images of the re-belt & pcb - I was so annoyed is why I think.........

I did my best with what I had left of the casing & mounting post - I am not great with these sort of things anymore, I used to have such steady hands & deft fingers, illness has been prohibitive - Stroke & brain damage is an evil illness to endure & today I was reminded of that with this stereo!

I love this model & have waited a long time for a nice one - for a middling machine these have very nice sound & they look so good - What a design!!

Anyway, I am going to let the images & video finish this sorry tale.............& I am still loking for a nice example of one of these!!

Et fooking Viola!!

Oh, crumbs, Mr Eccles! Now that's a shame. There's no sparing the viewer, with the awful evidence shown right from photos 1 and 2. (But good, large pictures, as we usually have from you, sir.)

On a somewhat lighter note, I'm inclined to say that it's good that Matsushita Electric Industrial chose to include a fine-tuning knob for this Panasonic RX-5030L. Then again, this is the longwave-tuning version of a model in a range of models that Panasonic tended to enhance with fine-tuning. (Shrug)

Was that the woof-woof or the cat moving in the lower-right corner in parts of the video clip?

Uh, who is it that one hears in the two-point-five-minute YouTube clip of your deftly home-mended portable? Can't quite make out the handwriting on the 90-minute mixtape that the male-vocalist song was recorded with, even when trying to view the video clip upside-down...

^ ^ ^ ^ ^ It certainly does. I mean, the box is in such a fantastic condition that you'd think the sender would take a little more care and spare a little more thought with packing. Sadly, I feel it's a case of "Once I have the money I don't care what happens to it in transit, IDGAF, it's not mine any more".

I don't know if consideration for future repairs has been given but filler with a respray of the front panels is on option as is to cover the front corners with something akin to 'flight case corners' but no option will ever leave it as pristine as it would have been without the ignorance of the moron who posted it.

What ever the plan is, I wish you the best of luck with this.

Basically you would have to use it for a kickball to f****** a Panasonic like that.

And I love these type of Panasonic these are the best work radios in the universe.

Uh, why does the website persist in misspelling the name of the former parent company of the Panasonic brand in my September 10, 2018 reply posted in Nick Eccles' same-date topic? I spent all those minutes trying to correct the misspelling of Panasonic's previous company name, only to have the misspelling stubbornly reappear in the re-posted message.

Is it a case of the fonts that I use in my messages (or in that particular message)?

Am I being "jinxed"? (Something I suspected after maybe the third message-editing attempt SMH)

Not to be cheeky, but who else endures such antics by Boomboxery algorithms? (Couldn't be Mr Eccles' pics-heavy post...could it?)

Seems like I finally made out the handwriting on the audiotape in Mr Eccles' home-mended stereo that he treats us to in the YouTube clip. That side of the audiotape -- if not the whole cassette -- has music by the Pet Shop Boys. One hears a jam by the Chris Lowe/Neil Tennant duo.
