Hiya,

I first started getting into boomboxes a few years ago when I bought a CD with a compilation of 80s 12" mixes, and it had a picture of a Sharp VZ 2000 on the front. Except that I didn't even know that's what it was at the time, but I was intrigued enough to try and find out. I ended up buying a non-working one off eBay in the end to try and get it working, but it turned out to have major issues and it kind of got abandoned. But I'm hoping to return to it now and make more of an effort to sort the problems out, hence my joining here.

I also have a JVC RV-B90 Kaboom, does that count? (hope I'm not opening a can of worms here...) I know it's not an 80s box... sounds great with the amazing bass though.

And yes, every kaboom/boomblaster counts for two
Hah, thanks both.

I did have a couple of boomboxes back in the 80s which I sadly disposed of in the intervening years (because they didn't have CD players, and what use is anything without a CD player? I was an idiot basically...) One was a Hitachi TRK-5190 and the other was a Sharp one that I can't seem to find from googling, but it had "The Searcher" on it, and FM preset buttons (which impressed me hugely at the time, cos I'd never seen a radio with presets before.) I wouldn't mind tracking down one of those Hitachis actually, cos it was a cool looking thing, and I somehow think acquiring a new one would make up a bit for throwing away the old one.
