I agree fellas, but if he gets the $300 for it, what are they worth then?
My point is they are worth what you're willing to pay, he may find a sucker, you never know.
To that one crack smoking fool it might be worth $300 but the true value to everyone else would still be far lower.
Worth only becomes current value when more than one person in a isolated case is willing to pay, this is where stupid BIN's can trap people who are either ignorant to current market trends for items or just don't care and want the item at any cost. Now unless your a sub 80 IQ bus driver from Houston this BIN is pure fantasy.
All that being said I have no problem with someone asking whatever they want for an item no matter how foolish or laughable. I also don't have a problem with whatever people want to pay but I reserve the right to laugh like hell and ridicule them for spending 10 times more on a box then they should have. This box was listed last week for $29 and no one bid.
The analogy of the CS660 is correct, Last spring there was a mint CS-660 listed numerous times on ePay and no one would even pop $200 for it.
No one in this thread has suggested that the sellers asking price is the current value.
As you suggest the current value is what the market (i.e.buyers on ebay) is prepared to pay. Nobody is prepared to pay $600 for this item, nobody is prepared to pay $29.00 for this item. I don't know enough about boombox values to determine what a fair price is, but it appears to be somewhat below $29.00.
I don't think the seller should be ridiculed for asking top dollar for his item,
it's his box, he can sell it at whatever price he wants. I don't believe his asking price has affected the value of any other boombox in the world. However he hasn't done his market research properly, before listing anything on ebay you should know exactly what it sells for, this is why I have no problem listing my valuable items starting at 1 cent. I am confident that they will fetch the price I want.
