G'day from downunder Australia, ( and HI to 'coop' ).

I'm a newbie here, so i thought my FIRST post should be something special :)

Here's my very first Boombox i customised back in 1981/82....
I was inspired by the cover of the Maclolm McLaren Album cover (see last pic), since i had all the parts laying around (being an electronics tech) i did my best to build up my own "ghetto blaster". not bad for a 15-16yr old kid......i'm now almost 44, and have re-found my love for big ol' Boomboxes.....

The Boombox is a "Silver" brand, not sure if it's unique to Australia? or worldwide?
Does anyone recognise the model? as i'd love to find one again, or at least some pics "before" my mods.
Sadly, i dont have this anymore, i think it was thrown out when i "grew up" .... Doh!!!

LOVE that custom Marty! Superb!
It's one of my ghettodreams to do up a Sanyo exactly like the Duck Rock cover. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
With all the extra experience you've amassed over the years the sky's the limit.

Also, for some more memories, here's a video I capped off a classic Countdown ep on Rage
a while back with lots of duckrockin' action.

Also, whereabouts in .au are you?

Welcome to the best site for your newfound hobby. This place is simply the best (from Sharp!).

Thanx again everyone for the extra warm welcome.

Great to see so many people appreciated my artwork hehehehe....
Although i dont have the box anymore, i'm VERY happy to at least have snapped 2 pics of it back in the day.
I still have my 35mm negs to do a nice enlarge/reprint to hang on the wall....

Oddly enough, i actually never photographed the boombox when it was completed.....those photo's were taken several years later when i was getting into photography, and just looking for 'things' around the house to photograph while trying out all the camera settings etc.....
phew.....LUCKY ME !!!! :w00t:

Anyhoo, 2 questions....
1) Does anyone know the model of my boombox yet ("Silver" brand).
2) What's the make/model of the Malcolm McLaren boombox ??

On another note, i've looked around the house the past few days, and i have enough 'bits' to remake a replica of my replica for nostalgia's sake....
So i'm goin for it..... :w00t:

I also have some home designed (scratch built) boomboxes in planning, some things no-ones done as yet....stay tuned, i'll be posting up a progression/how-to thread elsewhere on this forum....

The box on the Duck Rock cover is a Sanyo M-X920.
I tried hunting down the Philips box they gave the girl in the video a while back, but with married names and such I found it a dead end.
Hopefully she still has her and loves her! A definite rarity.

Good to see another Victorian around. There's a few of us on here.
I'm in Geelong.

Drop by the Boom Room (big green button down the bottom of this window) if you've got time. A fair portion of the .au/nz contingent chat away in there in the evenings.

Rock On.
