Hey Guys,
A few weeks ago member Fresh Produce (Peter) came over for the So Cal Meet and brought his Helix HX-4700 with him. I noticed it didn't have a batter door and asked if he wanted me to make him one! This is the 4th or 5th door I have made and they are getting better with each one I make.
Here is the aluminum panel cut out. Allot of radio's use a door that has a curved bottom. Those are allot harder to make. This is just a flat panel. What you can't see in these pictures is, I had to double up the panels because it needed to be twice as thick.
The fitment is nice and tight.
Here you can see the bottom tabs that hold the bottom of the door in place. (Not attached yet)
Here is the door with the bottom tabs pop riveted in place.
Here is one of the spring clips that hold the door closed. Two are required.
Both spring clips in place.
Painted Black...
The Helix HX-4700 is a HUGE Box, here it is with the J1
