Ive gone quite mad according to the wife, just bought 2 more Sharp VZ 2000's, got 3 now!!!! second one i bought from an old mate who bought one roughly the same time as i did back in 83........managed to contact him through someone else and rang him, come and have a look and make me an offer.......got it for £60 !!!!!!
All there, all sliders, just main belt gone, had a spare, fitted but the phono switch was faulty so striped it completely down, found the switch and cleaned it with contact cleaner (spraying near and around phono switch on the top display doesn't work) re threading the radio wire was a challenge, its wrong in the Sharp service manual, that shows an extra pulley.......must be for vz 2500????
Cleaned everything i could!!!!! but on assembly, i broke the on/off power switch, its hidden top left behind the record deck, 2 screws, so if you decide to take your VZ apart, take the switch off.

3rd VZ bought today, Gave £100 for it, guy wanted 150, glad i didnt pay that, hes had it in bits, what a mess.......(i stole the power switch off this one for the VZ no2)
He put some awful switches instead of the sliders, moron glued them in!!! but ive managed to remove them, currently in a million bits.....will rebuild tomorrow....

here are some photos.....the last 4 are of VZ no2 the rest are from no3 ive tried to make a power switch with one in the photo, seems to work.....

thinking of changing my user-name to VZ Kev

I've pretty much got there, no3 I bought today maybe a none runner, I'm going to email the guy and tell him he's a ripoff merchant. Told me he had it from new and when the tone arms stopped moving he put it away, then he tells me that it's a small belt !!!!!! I asked if he'd had it apart, no he replied...... Dam liar I got it home and decided to strip it for that power switch for no2 VZ, straight away I spotted wrong screws in wrong holes and the power switch on top of the unit had been reparied. Went in deeper and wires routed the wrong way, screws missing so he'd been inside. I'd rather him tell me that he'd took it apart. Ah well not to worry, if I can get no 3 running I will offer it for sale on here.....But will make sure it's running and will give full explanation to whoever wants it.....

latest update, was playing VZ 2 last night and the dreaded dead speaker came back, id already stripped it to lubricate the phono switch, thought id cured it, but no.

decided to take out phono switch assembly out of VZ3 and fit into VZ2 (better shell) what a pig of a job.......anyway managed to do it, rewiring the radio wire is a pain, but as soon as you look at the schematic diagram, its easy. Rebuilt VZ2 and ran it up, still the bloody same...!!!!!!

turns out it was the phono deck, swapped out from VZ3 and shes working perfectly.......

If Anyone needs help with their VZ 2000 im sure i can help in some way.

If anyone is going to attempt a strip down, first and foremost, take off the power switch........then look for a screw under the radio tuning dial......that catches you out trust me.

sadly i don't think i will bother with VZ3, especially if i have a faulty phono deck..........but i have spares......
