Here's my second box of the year: an AMSEN FK-887 Jumbo. :-D

Admittedly I'm a n00b in the brotherhood, but It's got a few things I haven't seen on other boxes in my limited experience:

* An external Mic Echo Level dial
* A C. Mic input (is this for a condenser mic‽)
* A rear cassette storage area
* An internal battery holder for 3 AAs (what are they for‽)

Anyone know anything about this box‽

It needs belts and the A side cassette deck door, other than that it's loud and should clean up nicely.

That's pretty cool. I noticed one of the "3 Way Bass" stickers is upside down. ;-)

As for the 3 AA batteries, it doesn't appear that this box actually uses them. There are no battery contacts (plates or coil springs) in that compartment. Usually, boxes with clocks need the extra batteries so the clock doesn't reset every time you turn off the boombox. I didn't see a clock though.

No idea on the C. Mic. The only condenser mics I've seen have the two prongs (one larger than the other).

Overall, it sort of reminds me of a Lasonic TRC-935.

Wild, never heard of that model before. I agree with Fatdog about the secord battery compartment. There may have been another model that had a clock. My Lasonic TRC-975 has a spot for both a 9 volt and AA but uses neither. The TRC-935 uses a 9 volt for the clock.

That should clean up nice. I wonder if you could MAKE a mold of the cassette door you have and create a second one!

I always like the BIG side by side double deck boxes!

You noticed that too, huh‽ ;-) The "stickers" aren't stickers anymore, the left one has detached and moves around a bit. I'll sort that during resto.

You're right, it's like a 935 tribute box.

Something I noticed is that the nameplate on the back doesn't indicate a country of origin. Maybe it's from outer-space!

Sketches of Spain sounds sweet on it!
Next up is some EPMD and Eric B & Rakim! :-D

I think you guys are right, it's for a feature that this model doesn't have. I'll know more once I crack it open to Deoxit the echo level pot. :hmmm:

Great idea! Instead of molding/casting, I'll CAD one up and print it out. It won't be clear, but I can put some cool window openings in it. I'll print two, paint them and only you guys will know they aren't OEM, since it appears this is the only one excavated so far!

I saw that boombox up for sale too good catch
Were you one of the guys that contacted him and never showed‽ He said that happened - OTOH, maybe it was a haggling strategy. Anyway, I got it for less than asking.
He's a director at a non-profit, a former principal, and rocked his way through college as a house-party DJ. That why he had the box to begin with: two turntables, a microphone... and an AMSEN!

Those are also rare... and egg-crackers!
When I clean it, I'll take lots of pix!

I thought you were in SoCal.

That's the plan because I don't think I'll find a parts box for it with an A door. It does look like it will be relatively simple to CAD up; the graphics are another story: without a reference A door I'll have to guess. :hmmm:

I'll keep you guys posted.
