Am I being too paranoid?

If I take one of my vintage boxes with us and we are staying in a Hotel, I bury and hide my box from the cleaning crew.

My wife says I am too paranoid and that I am needlessly being over protective.

IDK. Maybe, and while it probably wouldn't be too difficult to track down the perpetrator, I might not get it back. In the great big cities it would still seem highly likely to me that someone would be all too happy to take one of our vintage boomers off our hands.

I tell my wife...."they didn't start putting alarms on them for no reason.

I guess I can see her point in a way. Maybe just because something means a lot to me doesn't necessarily mean anyone would be as likely to take it over an iPod or something newer.

IDK. Has anyone else ever worried about the cleaning crew or someone gaining access to your box when you're not around?

You're fine. I'd feel the same.

You're gonna get two kinds of knowledge about people with two types of people.

People either think they're worth nothing or worth a lot.

Then you have people that steal and people that dont.

In regards to the people that steal they may look at it and either not care about it cause they dont know it's worth something. Or they may take it and think it's no big deal because they think it's worth nothing, so "no harm done."

But then obviously the thief that knows its valuable will take it anyways.

I'd cover it up, or maybe consider leaving it at the managers office if you can't bring it with you.

I wouldn’t bother hiding it. No ones gonna lose their job over a boombox. Loose change that no one would miss maybe, high valued modern tech maybe, but not a mahoosive boombox, can’t hide that down your pants lol :-)

Lol. Thx. I'm going to leave it out because it's a pain sticking it up on the highest closet shelf and stuffing pillows in front of it....lol

Hiding it could actually increase the curiosity of the cleaner, and perhaps make them think that it's worth a lot of money because you took the time to hide it.

That's an excellent point 🤔

I hadn't thought of that either.

Well. Last day in our room the box was still around. Glad I didn't bring the Conion. I think it would've been too much.

Brought my personal grail with me this time. Had this one forever. Been playing tapes left and right every second in the room.

This little machine isn't exactly travel friendly because if the handle gets in the detach position the speakers fall off which is a PITA. Plus being a 3 piece you have to worry about pressure on the RCA speaker jacks.

Here she is quietly playing some CCR.

When I go to the Beach I'm going to take the DJ-Tech again. It's easier to travel with even though it's heavy for its size.
